Education in France is public and lay the Maternelle the Lycée. Education is compulsory from 6 to 16 years and the education system is centralized and controlled by the French Ministry of Education, whose budget is the highest of all ministries.
Summer vacation, the longest of the year, take place from July to August for students (Lycée), and from July to September for college. The Christmas holidays last approximately 15 days. There are other short vacations or holidays whose dates vary depending on the area in which the school is located. There are three areas of holidays and vacations, and dates vary each year.
